Soteria Bradford offers a safe 24/7 community environment for individuals experiencing an early episode of psychosis, ideally with minimal exposure to psychiatric medication and hospitalisation.  Soteria Bradford will accept enquiries from others with a belief that psychosis can be an experience that one works through as opposed to a chronic illness that needs to be managed. The Soteria Bradford House is a spacious homelike setting with garden, providing a space for an individual to explore and find meaning in their experience of psychosis or personal crisis whilst being supported by a team of volunteers, trained to understand how to be with someone in extreme states. Some volunteers live as Housemates in the house while others spend time at the house as Mindful Companions ‘being with’ the person and their experience. Length of stay at the house will be on an individual basis but it is anticipated that the average length of stay could be up to 3 months. Individuals with uncontrollable violence to self or others and/or continuous drug or alcohol use will not be accepted into the house. Preferably the person should be on no/minimal medication and is committed to working towards their recovery journey. While Soteria Bradford is cautious of the use of psychiatric medication, it is not anti-psychiatry and views medication as one of many options in a person’s recovery. Enquiries for individuals to be considered for the house can be contacted through, Anna Arabskyj House Coordinator Email: Bradford.Soteria@gmail.com Tel: 07948621976
